Top 25 Movie Songs of 2014

Begin Again had several great songs.

We're already over a month into 2015, and I haven't even posted my top 10 films list or the 2014 CinSpec Awards yet. Both should be up next week though, so here's a look at some of the year's offerings in film music. Look out for my scores list in the next day or two. Note: I would've included something from God Help the Girl, but those songs were released in 2009.

  2. Great picks! Love all the Begin Again tracks, one of the stand outs in the film is the soundtrack. I Love You All was also memorable, as well as the songs from The Fault in Our Stars.

    1. Thanks! :) Boom Clap has been one of my favorites since TFIOS came out, even if the song wasn't eligible at the Oscars.

  4. OMG! Everything is Awesome is outside your ballot?!?!?!

All of the Stars is still my winner, with Mercy Is as a runner up. I almost want to say that I like Like a Fool better than Lost Stars, but I know it's just because I love that scene in the movie most of all.

This year was so rich with songs and scores, which is an oddity in itself.

    1. Sadly, yes. :( "America For Me" bumped it out recently. Otherwise, it would've been my #5. At least The LEGO Movie will get a win in Animated Film. :/

How far down is Everything is Awesome for you? #3? #4? Just wondering if it could potentially fall out of your lineup too.

Yeah, there are songs and scores I snub that would've been IN in almost any other year. Like, I could easily nominate my top 10 songs this year.

  6. Nice choices, but this list needs Batman's Song (Untitled Self-Portrait). I love that even more than Everything is Awesome.

  7. Oooh, I LOVE all the three songs from BEGIN AGAIN, esp 'Like A Fool'! As for Beyond the Lights, my fave is Blackbird. I'm gutted I didn't include 'No Fate Awaits Me' from The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, such a gorgeous and melancholic song. Fantastic list here Josh!

  8. Begin Again and TFIOS both had excellent soundtracks! I like Keira's stripped down version of "Lost Stars" better though.

    1. I prefer Levine's soaring take on the ballad, but I love that Keira's version feels like a more intimate song. I like both versions.
