First Favorite Films of Each Year: Part 1

A favorite from the start.

It's interesting how my favorite films have changed over time. I've seen new films and rewatched old ones, which makes my first favorites very different from my current ones. Given those changes, I wanted to see what my original favorites looked like. Here's a look at my first favorites from the 1930s-1950s. (Some of them are favorites from childhood, while others are ones I saw in recent years.)

  1. Interesting idea for a list! Chaplin's best films just work, no matter what age you are.
Nice that som of these childhood favorites such as the two "treasure" films are still in your top 10s, albeit not number 1 anymore. Will look out for part 2 :)

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I watched Chaplin's films within the last few years, though.

I'm not sure if the "treasure" films will stay on there once I see more films from those years, but it's fun having them there at the moment.

  2. Nice list Josh! You saw soooo many films no wonder you could make a list like this. I haven't seen a lot of 'em but of the ones I have, those would make my faves as well, i.e. Casablanca, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs & Singin' in the Rain. I REALLY want to see It Happened One Night soon!

    1. Thanks Ruth! Well, several of these are Disney films I grew up with, so it's no wonder they were my first favorites. :)

  3. I had no idea such a thing had ever happened. It hardly seems plausible to "only" be nominated for Best Pic. Thanks for the education!
