  1. A bunch of great screenplays that missed out on a nomination in the 90s!

  2. Fight Club (1999) is another screenplay which just popped into my head, that wasn't nominated.

    1. For all the awesome choices by the Academy, they always give something the shaft. They didn't even nominate Baldwin for it. Just a Pacino supporting nod.

  5. It's always fun comparing your picks to the ones chosen by the academy. In some of these cases, two movies I love are up against each other, so it would be a tough call for me: e.g. Magnolia vs. American Beauty, Secrets & Lies vs. Fargo.

BTW, I'll finally be watching the 3 Colors Trilogy -- it's been on my list for ages, and I always think of you when I see the titles. ;-) I actually got them on Criterion -- late Christmas gifts.

    1. Magnolia is a clear winner for me, but Secrets & Lies vs. Fargo is VERY close. Since I gave the Coens a win for Miller's Crossing, I decided to give Leigh the win for Secrets & Lies, which I actually think is a better overall film than Fargo.

Woo hoo! That's an awesome gift! Dying to hear your thoughts on them, and I'm happy to be associated with those films. :)

  6. YES for LA Confidential! So well deserved! Can't believe I still haven't seen Goodfellas and Quiz Show, I need to rectify that situation soon!

  7. Adapted: I'd have to do a little digging, but I’m not sure I would disagree with any of your picks. I mean seriously, we are precisely in line there, so… nice work!

    Original: See above.
