Washington and Davis seem Oscar-bound for Fences. |
Since last month, we've seen footage from Martin Scorsese's Silence, which looks like a possible alternate to La La Land winning Best Picture. Of course, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight have passionate support, as will Fences (from the actors branch at least). Not much has changed in my predictions, though. Check them out below.

Why'd ya change Moonlight for Cinematography? I thought it looked real good, and Ceaser kinda... Meh. XD
ReplyDeleteI think the Cinematographers branch of the Academy might give Roger Deakins another nom. They have their favorites, and I could see him getting in at Moonlight's expense.
DeleteI'm so all over the place right now because I could see so many different things happening...snubs and surprises. We match up quite a bit (I debated posting predictions but I think I'm going to just post my predictions the night before the noms are announced this year) but I see a lot changing.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to wonder if Driver will sneak in. He looked GREAT in the trailer, and from what I hear his role is actually the baitiest of the three...and he's had a banner year.
I wonder where Driver fits...Supporting? I could see him getting put there even if he's a co-lead, and that category certainly seems wide open.
DeleteI have bunches to see but what seems to be brewing in Best Actress is Isabelle Huppert moving towards a nomination for Elle which I'd much rather see happen than another nod for Meryl Streep fine actress that she may be.
ReplyDeleteNot every year has that slot for a well respect actress of legendary reputation who is finally handed a much deserved nod but lately there has been and I'm all for it. The only thing better is if they would actually win as Charlotte Rampling and Emmannuelle Riva should have in their respective years.
Yeah, I'm waiting on a few more precursors, but I could see Huppert getting in...or she could be this year's Cotillard (for Rust and Bone). :/
DeleteI'd have been thrilled at either win, but I'd give Blanchett the slightest of edges over Rampling.
