Movie Song of the Week

Film noir classics don’t often feature original songs, so I’ve gone for a track from the bare-bones masterpiece Kiss Me Deadly. Performed by Nat King Cole, “I’d Rather Have the Blues” was penned by Frank De Vol, and it was passed over during the awards season. So was the film, unfortunately. Check out the track, which is now one of my favorite classic movie songs, below.

  2. You can't go wrong with Nat King Cole, it's not a bad song either.

As far as Kiss Me Deadly in hindsight it's an impressive film but I'm guessing at the time, especially with its low budget, it just seemed like more of the same with the other tough little dramas being churned out.

    1. Yeah, it must've been easy to dismiss it as just another cheap noir back then.
