Monsters University leads the pack. |
It was announced earlier today that nineteen animated feature films are eligible for the 86th Annual Academy Awards, which means there will be five nominees. Since I ranked the foreign submissions, I tried to do the same with these titles.
The Wind Rises |
1. Monsters University
2. Frozen
3. The Wind Rises
4. Ernest & Celestine
5. The Croods
Rio: 2096 A Story of Love and Fury |
6. Epic
7. Despicable Me 2
8. A Letter to Momo
9. Rio: 2096 A Story of Love and Fury
10. O Apóstolo
Turbo |
11. Free Birds
12. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
13. Turbo
14. The Fake
15. Khumba
The Legend of Sarila |
16. The Legend of Sarila
17. Planes
18. Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie – Rebellion
19. The Smurfs 2
Smurfs 2 is up for consideration? Oh hell no!!!!
ReplyDeleteHa, I suppose it's only fair to include it.
DeleteQuestion: I know the Smurfs themselves are animated, but does the entire movie qualify as an animated feature?
ReplyDeleteYeah, the entire movie qualifies. It has to do with the amount of animation that's used. For instance, Alvin and the Chipmunks was also eligible.
DeleteI haven't heard of Rio: 2096 A Story of Love and Fury but boy that looks good, thanks for the tip Josh. There are so many I haven't seen yet but glad to see Monsters University at #1. Such a fun Pixar film, it's nice to revisit those wonderful monsters once again!
ReplyDeleteI want to see the Rio movie as well. Monsters University is the only animated film I've seen from this list, but I think it definitely has the best chance of being nominated. :)
DeleteWhy would you rank Rebellion so low?
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late reply. I only ranked it so low because I didn't think the Oscars would nominate it. (I haven't seen it.)
