Is Spotlight this year's Crash? |
The Oscars are Sunday night, and we might actually be in for some surprises this year. Best Picture feels like a race between The Revenant and The Big Short, but I'm reluctant to count out Spotlight. The supporting acting categories could also have a potential shocker, but some of the below-the-line categories (Score, Costume Design, Production Design...) seem ripe for an upset. I've gone out on a limb or two with my predictions, though I'm sure not everything will pay off. Good luck to everyone else predicting the winners!

I'm still firmly in the camp of Sicario winning Best Cinematography. It's so beautifully shot and Deakins is long over due. But I agree that The Revenant will probably win.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'd LOVE to see Deakins finally win, but I think Chivo is (deservedly) winning again.
DeleteI'm predicting The Revenant to win Picture as well. Even if it didn't make my top 10, it's at least a better western than Dances With Wolves (worst Best Picture winner ever). But I believe Stallone will be Harden'd by Hardy. Some have called me crazy, but I think it can happen.
ReplyDeleteHaha, the worst Best Picture winner ever won the year before Dances With Wolves. ;) I'd be happy for Stallone, but I'd be overjoyed if Hardy pulled off the upset.
DeleteOk, so mine are set to drop Saturday...but we differ in a few categories (I'm sticking with Winslet, and I'm predicting a surprise in Doc)...but all around, I could see all of this happening.
ReplyDeleteLove that you're sticking to your guns on Winslet, and you could totally be right. Can't wait to see who wins Supporting Actress!
DeleteI just hope it's Big Short and Winslet for winners
ReplyDeleteI'm not really rooting for either, but I wouldn't mind seeing Winslet and Brad Pitt with 2 Oscars.
