Film noir classics don’t often feature original songs, so I’ve gone for a track from the bare-bones masterpiece Kiss Me Deadly. Performed by Nat King Cole, “I’d Rather Have the Blues” was penned by Frank De Vol, and it was passed over during the awards season. So was the film, unfortunately. Check out the track, which is now one of my favorite classic movie songs, below.
Um...YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!

SO GOOD. Love it!
DeleteYou can't go wrong with Nat King Cole, it's not a bad song either.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Kiss Me Deadly in hindsight it's an impressive film but I'm guessing at the time, especially with its low budget, it just seemed like more of the same with the other tough little dramas being churned out.
Yeah, it must've been easy to dismiss it as just another cheap noir back then.
DeleteBeautiful song! Thanks for introducing it to me. Kiss Me Deadly is a film noir with a great reputation that's high on my watchlist!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked the song! :D Hope you get to check out the film soon.
DeleteNat King Cole's voice is like the smoothest silk... sooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYeah, his voice is so smooth and inviting.
