Gravity will be one of the finest winners or losers of the Best Picture Oscar. |
Not much has changed since my last predictions. Gravity and 12 Years a Slave remain the Best Picture frontrunners, but some think Saving Mr. Banks could be a threat. While Captain Phillips is another strong contender, I'm curious to see how American Hustle turns out. It looks like The Wolf of Wall Street might be released this year after all. However, I'm at a loss on its chances at this point. Best Actor looks too crowded for DiCaprio, and I'm not sure where the film could fit now. At the moment, I see it missing entirely (hope I'm wrong).

I'd be gobsmacked if Gravity and 12 Years a Slave didn't sweep the Oscars. Bruce Dern is great in Nebraska. For goodness sake, Meryl again?? Well, I'll be seeing August: Osage County on Thursday, looking forward to that one!
ReplyDeleteI think they'll both win a few, especially if Gravity gets techs and 12 Years gets Best Picture. Haha, I'm getting tired of always seeing Meryl nominated as well.
DeleteI'm very curious about people predicting Daniel Brühl for Rush. I see him in predictions all the time - he is not that well known, is he this good in the movie?
ReplyDeleteHe's good in the film, but I can see him falling out of the conversation. The only "locks" are Hanks and Fassbender, so there could be some surprises in this category.
DeleteI have no idea what do to about my October predictions. I feel like so much has changed!!!
ReplyDeleteReally? I don't feel like much has changed, but do you mean just with your predictions? I've had Captain Phillips in there for a while. The only real change I see is Wolf getting a confirmed Christmas release. I don't see it registering at this point though.
DeleteI feel like we are all underestimating Wolf because of the schedule issues. The fact that it is being released on Christmas day proves that they feel it has Oscar potential, not just box office potential, so I have a feeling it will play pretty heavily with Oscar. It's Scorsese, and Oscar LOVES him.
DeleteI'm leaning that way now, especially since The Monuments Men dropped out. Still don't see DiCaprio happening though.
