My Reaction to Lee Daniels' The Butler in GIFs


I've tried to gather my thoughts on Lee Daniels' latest film, but it was a bit messy. While it's not a terrible film, it was all over the place tonally. It never found its footing, making my reaction quite varied throughout the course of the film. Here's the best I can do in GIFs.

    OK, your review is totally awesome. I haven't seen The Butler as I'm pretty mixed on Lee Daniels as a filmmaker. Plus, I just don't really like Oscar-bait movies where there's this guy and that person and that person and blah, blah, blah.

      Thanks man. I'm mixed as well, but I did kind of love The Paperboy as a guilty pleasure. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Oscar-bait movies either, even though I watch the new ones every year.

    The Keanue Reeves reaction to the real world is how I feel pretty much all of the time to anything. I'm not surprised that you had a similar feeling towards The Butler, among many others. I was already confused by including Oprah Winfrey in the film alone, not really sure how the rest of it would do.

    Love the post, great concept.

      Thanks, Cherokee. Oprah was actually decent in the film, but her performance wasn't Oscar-worthy.
