10/1 - Seth MacFarlane is hosting the upcoming ceremony. This could help him squeak through with a Best Original Song or Screenplay nod. I don't have as much faith as Julian Stark does though. Press release.
9/18 - Important Dates for the 85th Oscars are announced, with the nominees being revealed earlier on January 10, 2013 and the winners revealed on February 24, 2013. Press release.
9/14 - Documentary Feature entries have already been submitted. Press release.
9/13 - Don Mischer, who has directed opening ceremonies at the Summer and Winter Olympics and Super Bowl halftime shows (among other things), will be directing the 85th Oscars show. Press release.
9/5 - This year's Honorary Oscars are going to Hal Needham, George Stevens Jr., and D.A. Pennebaker. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award will be awarded to Jeffrey Katzenberg. Press release.

DeleteSeth MacFarlane... I hope he's brutal, ahah! Hopefully he can make the oscars a bit more entertaining. Especially because in Portugal it airs at 1AM, so... yeah, I need someone funny to keep me going.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm glad I don't have to watch the Oscars that late. Then again, I'm so excited on the day of the ceremony that I could stay up all night for it if necessary. ;)
DeleteI don't see MacFarlane getting away with much at the Oscars. I think the producers will reign him in, but hopefully it will still be a fun show.
I don't watch Family Guy so I only just heard who MacFarlane is like a few months ago, ahah. Well I just hope he'd be eons better than James Franco, though hard to see anyone topping Billy Crystal.

DeleteMacFarlane is definitely a ballsy choice, but I feel like the Academy is only going with a ballsy choice in order to get people to watch that show. Once it's rolling, I imagine MacFarlane to be about as risqué as Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, and so on. Hopefully I'm wrong!

I agree. The Academy won't let these guys do their thing, so we're probably in for the same old stuff. I hope I'm wrong too!
