  1. Dance Apocalyptic by J Monáe & Step by V Weekend are great songs indeed, though the rest of those two albums I didn't love as much as you did.
Nice to see Tales of Us by Goldfrapp made the honorable mentions, that's my no 1 at this moment. Agree Daft Punk is top 5 of the year.

    1. Those two albums really grew on me upon additional listens. Modern Vampires wasn't anywhere near my top 10 a week ago. I've listened to it a few times this week, and I love it now.

I really wanted to include The National and Goldfrapp in my top 10, but they'll be nominated on my awards ballot. :)

  2. I'm glad that Bangerz got an honorable mention...but I so wanted it to sneak into the Top Ten...UGH, it was so much more successful than Yeezus!

    1. Haha, I still dig Bangerz. It deserved a top 20 mention at least, so I included it in the HMs. Also, look out for it on my awards ballot.

  3. I just picked up Reflektor this week, and it's pretty awesome so far. The National is up there for me, so it's good to see it get a mention. I also have enjoyed Vampire Weekend and Tegan and Sara, though it's hard to call out too many particular songs. I still have a lot more to check out this year.

    1. Glad you like some of those picks, Dan. Most of these albums benefited from additional listens. For instance, Heartthrob and Yeezus were in the bottom half of my first half of the year list.

  4. Nice list! For the most part, I agree. However, I'd definitely put Daft Punk's album at numero uno. It was just so different from anything they've ever done, but for the better and it shows that these guys are musical geniuses, even if they don't want to be seen.

    1. Thanks! I had a hard time placing RAM, but it's a great choice for #1.

  5. Of the albums that you mention, the Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Sky Ferreira, QOSTA, the National, and Goldfrapp albums are in my top 50 list which I'm still working on which I'll post on my music blog.

  6. LORDE! Yay! I don't really listen to that much music but yes, that's my favourite album of the year. What is your favourite song from it?

Also love Yeezus. Blood on the Leaves is such a great song. Other than that, I was pretty impressed by Flume's album (if that was even 2013), Halcyon Days by Ellie Goulding and The Great Gatsby soundtrack. And that shows the lack of musical knowledge I have!

    1. Haha, knew you'd like that. I go back and forth between Royals and Ribs, but I also love Team and 400 Lux. Don't make me choose! :)

Yeezus is one of Kanye's best, but it's hard to top MBDTF for me. Flume's album came out in 2012. I should check it out.

I love Ellie Goulding! Her first album Lights is my favorite album from 2011 (based on the U.S. release date). The only (small) problem I have with Halcyon Days is that it's a reissue of Halcyon with additional songs. Still, I dig it, and I gave Halcyon Best Pop Album on my 2012 music awards ballot. I also nominate her in a few categories in my upcoming 2013 ballot.

  7. I'm not familiar w/ most of these as I listen to mostly classic or soundtracks, but I quite like Daft Punk's style.

    1. Glad you like Daft Punk's style. Their TRON: Legacy score is one of my favorite soundtracks.

  8. Yeezus really grew on me. I love that album now. I hadn't heard the Lorde album yet (on Royals), but wow, I'm digging Ribs.

    1. Same here on Yeezus. That happened with several albums this year, actually. Ribs might be my favorite track on Pure Heroine. Love that song.
