  1. The lack of Isabelle Huppert on this list or Jackie for Cinematography upsets me deeply. :C

    1. I want BOTH of those noms to happen...but I don't think they will. :(

    2. Why don't you think so? From what I saw of Lion, there wasn't much impressive looking images aside from the one shot of the butterflies xD

  2. I LOVE how how different our finals are...and I love how we both expect to see a Hidden Fences (errr...Figures) uprise, but in different ways (or...I should say that you see it stronger than I do).

  3. Costner sneaking in would be terrific!

  4. I'd really be surprised to not see Isabelle Huppert score a nom considering the strong showing she made in the winner circle so far. I don't expect her to get the award, while I fully approve of the current trend of an estimable legendary actress receiving a nomination each year it would be nice to see one win!

I'd also like to see Taraji Henson get in though at the expense of Adams, I don't care if it's a deserving performance-she's been nominated for so many unworthy ones it's time for a miss, or Streep, love her but nothing she does in FFJ is extraordinary enough to warrant inclusion, and not Huppert.

I'd also like to see Hidden Figures get a nod. It's not good enough to win Best Picture but it is a good film and a nod for it can only encourage films like it to get the green light.

Staying to Hidden Figures it would be nice to see a surprise Costner nod. I am mostly unimpressed with him as an actor but his laid back solidity with the occasional spark of outburst was a perfect fit for his role.

  5. I love that you picked Taraji for Hidden Figures. PLEASE, Academy!

  6. I watched the announcement today and turns out Scorsese was shut out. Although Silence did get a cinematography nom. Seems Hanks and Scorsese are not guaranteed which is how it should be. Haven't seen Silence or Sully so I can't say if they are deserving of praise.
Apparently the Academy had to apologize for Amy Adams and Tom Hanks website flub, they both mistakenly were nominated :)
