88th Oscar Winners Announced

Mad Max: Fury Road won the night, taking home 6 awards.

Well, that's that. With a close race for Best Picture heading into the final weeks of voting, Spotlight came out ahead, grabbing only two wins, including the top prize. It was a pretty great night on the whole, with Mad Max: Fury Road dominating the below-the-line categories; Leonardo DiCaprio and Ennio Morricone finally winning; and Ex Machina (deservedly) benefiting from vote-splitting in a highly competitive Visual Effects category. Overall, it was a better list of winners than last year. (Though, I'm one of maybe five people who likes "Writing's on the Wall".)

In all, I predicted 17/24 categories correctly, which is down from 21/24 last year. It was a weird year, though, so I'll take it.
