Since I haven't been very active on the blog lately, I'm introducing a new weekly series, which will highlight an original movie song. I love digging into songs that had their origins in film, so I figured this would be a quick, fun little post every week.
It seemed right that my first choice should be random, as I'm sure this series will feature odd choices that've popped into my head. With that in mind, here's what is perhaps the most 80's movie theme of that decade: "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" by John Parr.
I rewatched St. Elmo's Fire, which I hadn't seen in over a decade, recently, and I liked it - flaws and all. The theme song, while eligible at the Oscars, was ignored on the 1985 awards circuit , despite reaching #1 on the charts. Check it out below, or listen to it again and take a trip down memory lane.
This is a great idea for a weekly series, I'm looking forward to following it :)
