July Oscar Predictions

12 Years a Slave looks like a serious contender.

Since my last predictions, I've gone back to predicting 12 Years a Slave for several awards. I'm not sold on Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom getting nominated, but I'm warming up to Captain Phillips and Rush as possible Best Picture nominees. 1. I can't wait for 12 Years A Slave - hope it gets nominated as much as you have it down for here!

I'd like to see Larry Smith nominated for Cinematography for Only God Forgives - definitely the most visually stunning thing I've seen this year so far, but I have a feeling it'll miss out.

    1. Oh, me too. I'd love to see both of those things happen, but I don't think Smith has a chance.

  2. Nice predictions Josh, though I can't think of award seasons just yet. That said, I do wish Chiwetel Ejiofor and Cate Blanchett gets a nod next year, esp. Chiwetel as he's such an underrated actor. I'd say he's the British version of Denzel :D

  3. Glad to see 12Years of Slave in Bet pic predictions, I think it's gonna be there. Academy loves that subject matter and McQueen is a great director. I'm still hoping Elba will get nominated for Long walk to Freedom :)

    1. I really hope 12 Years is there. Elba could show up, but I'm still not convinced he will.
