YAY! I always find others approach to awarding this category interesting. There are so many ways to look at strength in editing. Is it flashy, is it seamless, is it gutted, does it flow? I just love this category.
ReplyDeleteI'll only comment on 1939, since it's the one year where I have a complete ballot in all categories. My winner is Beaue Geste. I found Only Angels Have Wings to have narrative issues, which I attribute to editing a lot, so it isn't on my ballot. I nominate Gone with the Wind, Gunga Din, The Roaring Twenties and Le Jour se Leve as well.
I just love that year.
Yeah, Only Angels Have Wings barely beats Gone with the Wind and The Roaring Twenties, but I suspect my winner here will change in due time. Need to see Beaue Geste and Le Jour se Leve.
DeleteAnother magnificent list!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
