August Oscar Predictions

Scorsese's Silence, it seems, will have to wait.

A couple of fringe contenders, like Demolition and Midnight Special, have moved to 2016, but not much else has changed since last month. However, it looks like Martin Scorsese's Silence will probably premiere at Cannes next year, taking it out of this year's race.

  1. Almost all of our Best Supporting Actor/Actress predictions are the same except instead of Del Toro, I have Michael Keaton for Spotlight and instead of Ellen Page, I have Jane Fonda for Youth. But I do have Julianne Moore for Freeheld in Best Actress and recently moved Alicia Vikander up in that category for The Danish Girl.

    1. I forgot about Fonda. She could definitely get a nomination, but I'm not sure about Keaton. I almost put Moore in for Ronan. Though, it feels like there's a Best Actress contender everyone's overlooking.

  2. Yeah, the Silence move was...sad. I was so ready for Scorsese slayage this year. Nice to see Beasts make a showing here, though.

    1. I still wonder about Beasts, but the Silence move is deflating, to say the least. Like, is our Best Picture winner one of my top 10? If so, the race (if any) doesn't look very thrilling this year.
