Unbroken could be the frontrunner. Who knows? |
Not much has changed since last month's predictions. I've made a few changes here and there, but awards season is just beginning, with no real frontrunner. Unbroken could be the real thing, though I think The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything will take votes from it. Boyhood and Birdman seem too small, but there isn't much else. I doubt American Sniper is another Million Dollar Baby, and Interstellar looks like it will only win tech awards. In the end, a safe choice like The Imitation Game or Unbroken is probably out in front.

I just want Lost Stars to win and Ruffs to at least get a nomination for Foxcatcher, it would be so awesome if he also got nominated for comedy/musical Globe for Begin Again.
ReplyDeleteI think for the first time in a long time BP race may be exciting because the acting categories are kinda obvious as to who is gonna win it this year
Me too! Lost Stars is SO GOOD, and I'd love to see Ruffalo get another Oscar nomination. It'd be great if Begin Again could snag Picture, Actor, Actress, and Song nominations at the Globes.
DeleteHmm... I'd only call Best Actress obvious, but you might be right. Best Picture seems open, though I do think The Imitation Game might win it in the end.
I just got mine up today too! Things look like they are starting to take shape, and I bet next months will start to solidify the options. We seem to be on the same wave length with a lot of these, but still differ on quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
I'd love for things to solidify, but I hope we're in for some surprises, like no Affleck in Director and no Tom Hanks, on Oscar nomination morning.
DeleteI really want to see Unbroken, mostly because I admire the real person it's based on, Mr Zamperini. I hope Jolie does his story justice and not overlook his Christian faith that's integral in his life. Jack O'Connell looks so much like young Toby Stephens in that photo :P
ReplyDeleteBased on what I saw in Foxcatcher, Steve Carell seems like a shoo in for Best Actor. Comedians usually play dramatic roles surprisingly well.
I'm guessing the film might overlook his Christian faith, but the trailers are vague on that issue. Hoping for a great film, regardless.
DeleteI think Carell will be nominated, but I've no idea who'll win. It feels like several of the contenders could end up winning.
