The Revenant landed a dozen noms, including Best Picture. |
As always, there were snubs (Carol in Best Picture and Best Director) and surprises (Tom Hardy for The Revenant and Lenny Abrahamson for Room) this morning, but there were also a few triumphs. Mad Max: Fury Road received 10 nominations, which is actually more than something as big as Avatar received, and little films like Brooklyn and Room made the Best Picture lineup. The Revenant leads with 12 nominations, but Spotlight did better than many expected, scoring 6 mentions. Check out the list below, and see how I did on my predictions.

Hardy. My prayers made it happen!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm so happy for him.
DeletePretty great, bro! I went 83/106 with mine. My poor April predictions were abysmal!
ReplyDeleteThanks man! Can't wait to see how I did on my April predictions.
DeleteI'm delighted and relieved that the wholly deserving Charlotte Rampling is at last an Oscar nominee! It would be wonderful if she won but I'm not counting on that.
ReplyDeleteThe Jennifer Lawrence nomination seems very lazy. She a good actress but not astonishingly so and four nominations by 25 is over acknowledgement and is only going to hurt her down the line.
Yeah, Rampling should've been a nominee decades ago, so I'm thrilled for her.
DeleteI actually think Joy is Lawrence's best performance to date. Happy that she got in without keeping Rampling out. But her 4 noms could hurt her in the long run, I suppose.
74% is good going, its not easy predicting :) I expect Leo will finally win his oscar, I just saw The Revenant and he is good in that. The film itself is a tad shallow but looks great and has several remarkable scenes.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Leo is great in the film, which has grown on me a lot, and I agree he'll probably win. Fingers crossed.
