2015 Halfway CinSpec Awards

Here are my personal awards for the first half of 2015. I still need to see films like Clouds of Sils Maria, The Water Diviner, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Love & Mercy, Testament of Youth, Dope, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, The Salvation, Blackhat, It Follows, Good Kill, Welcome to Me, The Age of Adaline, When Marnie Was There, Manglehorn, The Tribe, and A Little Chaos.

Note: I didn't make an image for Best Animated Feature Film, since I've only seen one (Inside Out) so far. Also, you can click on the images to enlarge them.

  1. LOVE! So much I need to see, and some snubs I wasn't expecting. Stone is that good in Aloha? I thought she was mostly seen as underwhelming (and the Asian controversy)...and no Rose Byrne?!?! I thought she'd be your winner. But I can't wait to see so many of these!

    1. Thanks! I loved Stone in Aloha, but she's not my clear winner. Cassidy and Moore are right there.

  2. Love that Maps to the Stars has such a good showing. And I really need to see Little Accidents ASAP. That Ex Machina still for Best Cinematography is everything.

    1. Little Accidents is a great little drama. Definitely worth a look. Ha, that scene in Ex Machina rocks.

  3. Woah, Stone! I figured there is nothing worth seeing in Aloha, but I guess I should check it our for her? I love Banks, shall I see Little Accidents?

    1. Aloha isn't much, but Stone was the bright spot for me. Plus, none of my other nominees really feel like a winner to me, if that makes sense. Banks is really good in Little Accidents. It's a different role for her, so I'd say it's worth seeing if you're interested.

  4. Emma Stone for Aloha? Are you fucking kidding me? That character was badly written as an annoying idealist with no depth who later gets insulted and saddened when she realizes that Bradley Cooper is a corporate schmoe.

    1. That's fair, but I really enjoyed what Stone brought to the thinly written role. I couldn't really see anyone else being my Supporting Actress winner at the moment, though I seriously doubt Stone will make my final lineup months from now.

  5. Also Little Accidents don't seem to be doing to good... :/

    1. Little Accidents is a solid, overlooked drama that I wouldn't have seen if it weren't for the Indie Spirit nominations last year. I'd recommend it if you're interested.

  6. I have a feeling you'd LOVE Clouds of Sils Maria! ;-) I haven't heard of Little Accidents before, you've got my interest piqued on that one.

    1. I just rented Clouds of Sils Maria on iTunes, Ruth! ;) I could've waited a few days to watch it before posting, but I wanted to get these up sooner rather than later.

  7. Lovin' the love for Mad Max: Fury Road. So far, I have Mad Max, Ex Machina, and Inside Out on my personal BP lineup. I also have Alicia Vikander in for Best Supporting Actress as well.

Plus, I picked you as a nominee for the Liebster Award, which allows bloggers to discover other amazing blogs. Check it out: http://filmguyreviews.blogspot.com/2015/07/liebster-award.html

    1. Thanks, Matt! Glad you love those as well. I have a feeling Mad Max: Fury Road could be like Blade Runner - a genre film that SLAYS at my awards early next year.
