| The Grand Budapest Hotel moved higher up the list after a second look. |
Six months have passed, and it's time to look at best that 2014's first half had to offer. I didn't get to see everything, but I only have about a dozen films to catch on DVD/streaming when they're available in the next couple of months. Admittedly, my list is probably not as strong as it was last year. That said, I love my top five, and I'd be happy if it looked the same at the end of the year. I hate to just dump the list without any further comments, but I'm finishing the images for my 2014 Halfway CinSpec Awards tomorrow and didn't have time.
By the way, the films I haven't seen yet include Under the Skin, The Immigrant, The Rover, Palo Alto, Dom Hemingway, Locke, Young and Beautiful, Only Lovers Left Alive, The Raid 2, Night Moves, Venus in Fur, Begin Again, Snowpiercer, Ida, and Obvious Child.

NOAH at #2 is like epic awesomeness!!! It's currently my #1, but I've seen less than you (and I haven't seen We Are the Best).

I'm so hyped for Edge of Tomorrow, the trailer looked silly but I see the praise for it all the time in the blogosphere. Glad to see Enemy on your list!

Great list here. My favorite so far is Enemy, followed by Under the Skin. Looks like I need to see We Are the Best! ASAP.

ReplyDeleteThanks! I could see The Grand Budapest Hotel staying in my top 5 all year. But there are several unseen films that could land high on my list, like Boyhood, Under the Skin, The Immigrant, Macbeth, and Inherent Vice.
