I almost skipped the 1930s because I have not seen very many supporting performances of note. It was tough to come up with winners from what little I've seen. Of course, I'll come back and edit these once I see more performances from this decade.

Love this and the Jean Arthur mention. She actually wins my LEAD award that year. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Vivian Leigh, blah, blah, blah. She was wonderful, but Arthur is just on another level with a much lighter character even.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough call, but I'd nominate Arthur for lead in Only Angels Have Wings and give her the supporting win here. She seems more of a lead in Wings than in Mr. Smith. Either way, they're both great performances.
