Inside Out is one of the year's best. |
This is a quick post, but here are my favorites of the first half of 2015. I still need to see films like Clouds of Sils Maria, The Water Diviner, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Love & Mercy, Testament of Youth, Dope, A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, The Salvation, Blackhat, It Follows, Good Kill, Welcome to Me, The Age of Adaline, When Marnie Was There, Manglehorn, The Tribe, and A Little Chaos. Also, look out for the 2015 Halfway CinSpec Awards tomorrow.
Happy Thursday. I enjoy reading your blog. I would also like to invite you to participate in my upcoming blogathon in August. The link is below with more details

Thanks for the invite! :)
DeleteSome great picks here! Mad Max, Inside Out and Ex Machina were all excellent :) I've still yet to see Far From The Madding Crowd but I've only heard good things about it - I'll have to scout it out at the local indie theatre :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hope you like Far from the Madding Crowd, which I prefer to the 1967 version with Julie Christie.
DeleteThis is a very interesting list! I haven't seen all of them, but I definitely agree with Ex Machina and Maps to the Stars. Those are two of my favorites as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Oh, glad you agree with those two. Love 'em!
DeleteLOL, I've only seen two...guess which ones :-P
ReplyDeleteHaha. I thought three, no? Inside Out, Jurassic World and Tomorrowland.
DeleteNo Spy? :(
ReplyDeleteSadly, no. I did enjoy it though, and it currently makes my CinSpec ballot in a couple of places.
DeleteCool list! For me, Mad Max is easily the best action film of 2015 so far. I can imagine Inside Out will end up the best animated film of the year.
ReplyDeleteI can see you don't count feature-length documentaries, I have two in my top 5(Going Clear & Montage of Heck)
Thanks, Chris! I've seen Going Clear, but it didn't make my list, since I'm not sure it was released in theaters and I only gave it a B. Every film on my list gets an A- or higher. ;) Docs are always eligible for me. For instance, Man on Wire, Hoop Dreams and Exit Through the Gift Shop are all in my top 5 in their respective years.
DeleteIt's been a very slow year thus far, but this is a pretty good list. The only thing I've been truly bananas for is Mad Max.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love all 10 films, but it does feel like a slow start. Granted, I have several other films to see.
DeleteHi Josh! Your list will be quite different from mine but hey we agree on your #1 pick, well at least I *think* it'd make my top 3 of the year. Jurassic World and Tomorrowland definitely won't make my best list however. Ex Machina is excellent, that'd likely make my top 10!
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth! Haha, I really enjoyed Tomorrowland and Jurassic World. So glad you loved Fury Road and Ex Machina!
