  1. Very nice Josh! I think I agree with some of your choices that I have seen. Of course I still need to see The Apartment and my Lawrence of Arabia Blu-ray is on order now. I agree GWTW has gorgeous costumes and yes, Moulin Rouge!'s art direction is gorgeous and imaginative indeed. Let's see if Baz could top that with The Great Gatsby.

    1. Thanks, Ruth! For me, both of those get better with multiple viewings.

Glad you approve of GWTW and Moulin Rouge! Who knows? Maybe Baz will top it.

  2. Marlon Brando and Kevin Kline, knock-out performances! That Star Wars theme is epic.

Didn't know you loved Tilda Swinton so much.I usually am not keen on British actors playing Americans, the accents tend to distract me from what they are saying. Some actors get it right like Emma Watson in Perks, but I disliked Emma Thompson's work in Primary Colors, and Michael Caine's performance in The Cider House just irritated me. I haven't seen Michael Clayton, I take your word for it she must have done a great job!

    1. Nice. Glad you like those picks.

I like Swinton, but I LOVE that performance. Didn't think she'd "win", but there aren't a lot of great supporting actress wins that I've seen.

I'm with you on accents. Oddly enough, Watson's accent bothered me (a little) in Perks, but so did Caine's. Can't remember Thompson's very well.

  4. Superb work, my friend. Best Actress... that's damn right.

Supporting Actor/Actress were surprises, but very good ones. Also love Bergman pulling out a win for Foreign Film. Be so hard to choose a winner there.

    Again, really great work here!

    1. Thanks so much, man! :)

Really? Kline is actually my favorite supporting male performance of all time. I was surprised by Swinton too, but Supporting Actress has never been the Academy's strongest category in terms of wins.

  5. Fabulous post! It's fun seeing Kevin Kline from A Fish Called Wanda here. You have such eclectic tastes. "Don't call me stupid!"

I'm also happy to see Tilda Swinton from Michael Clayton. It's one of my favorite movies, and I felt she actually went beyond the boundaries of the role in her performance.
