Awesome to see True Romance and Casino here - the latter especially, it's a long movie but everything is put together in such an elegant matter.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Love Casino.
DeleteLOVE the Run Lola Run win! 1999 is a great year in this particular category. Between Run Lola Run, The Matrix, Boys Don't Cry and Three Kings I have a hard to coming up with a personal winner. At the end of the day, I'd probably go with yours!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Ha, that's one of my favorite wins too!
DeleteBoy I really need to see JFK at some point, been meaning to but never got around to it for some reason. Run Lola Run is fantastic, too bad it wasn't even nominated!
ReplyDeleteYeah, JFK's worth a look. Glad you like Run Lola Run too.
DeleteI'm with you on this list though I do have a few considerations:
ReplyDelete1993-Geraldine Peroni-Short Cuts
1994-William Chang-Chungking Express
1998-Billy Weber, Leslie Jones, and Saar Klein-The Thin Red Line
1999-Jose Salcedo-All About My Mother
Nice picks. I considered all but Chungking Express, which I still need to see.
DeleteYour list has me wondering.... When did it all start to go wrong for Kevin Costner?
ReplyDeleteHaha, probably Waterworld. If not that, then The Postman.
DeleteOh my ... is that a picture of The Worst Toilet in Scotland? That's one of the top movie scenes I've tried, unsuccessfully, to scrub from my brain. Come to think of it, that might be a good topic for a blog post. :-)
ReplyDeleteHa, that would make an interesting post. :)
DeleteFantastic picks. I cannot disagree with any of them. 1994 is a tough choice, because how can I argue with Hoop Dreams? I'd probably still pick Pulp Fiction, but damn... Hoop is how you cut.
ReplyDeleteThanks man. Yeah, Pulp Fiction is *this* close, but I can't snub Hoop here.
