Final 87th Oscar Predictions

Will Boyhood win Best Picture? I'm not so sure.

The Oscars are Sunday, so here's my attempt at predicting the winners. Boyhood vs. Birdman has been the battle for weeks, and I've finally decided on one film. I've gone out on a limb for Birdman on the strength of its guild wins, but I won't be surprised if it only wins a couple of Oscars. The Grand Budapest Hotel looks like it will dominate the below-the-line categories, though I'm expecting the Academy will spread the love overall. Good luck to everyone else predicting the winners in this insane year!

  1. We are almost exactly the same, with just a few differences. I finished mine last night and scheduled it to post about four hours before the Oscars, so that it wouldn't interfere with Dolan week :-P

    Pray for Birdman!

    1. Haha, praying so hard for Birdman. I REALLY want to predict Keaton, but I'd rather get my prediction right. Plus, if Keaton wins, I won't care that I got it wrong. ;)

  2. I just hope Keaton wins. I think their love for Boyhood is grand but for me Actor would mean more than Picture since it's a known fact the best seldom wins Picture and I just don't want the world to be the place Redmayne has an Oscar

    1. Yeah, I'd gladly trade a Best Picture win for Birdman if it meant Keaton would win Best Actor. He still could, but I'm going with the frontrunner, even if I don't want Redmayne to win.

  3. Great work! I'm sorry, but Redmayne being the frontrunner really bums me out. I mean... I thought Keaton HAD this.

    1. Thanks man! Yeah, I SO hope Keaton pulls off the win, but I doubt it.

  4. I'm just glad that Julianne Moore looks like a sure thing and even though I haven't seen either yet I'm pulling for Michael Keaton over Redmayne.

I do not understand the love for Boyhood, I hated it so much-even more on reflection I hope anything else wins. I can't believe that Patricia Arquette, an actress whose work I find singularly unexceptional overall and this particular performance a nothing, has been winning and will probably be awarded the top prize for such an undeserving piece of work. If she does indeed win she'll go on my list as one of the worst winners in the awards history.

    1. Keaton all the way! I hope I'm wrong about Redmayne!

I loved Boyhood when I first saw it. I watched it again recently and was very underwhelmed, especially by Arquette.
