I haven't even done my year-end posts for 2014, but it's 2015, so here are some of the films I'm looking forward to seeing this year.

Ooo nice list. I've watched '71 and it's really good. Very gritty. I hadn't heard of Sing Street before this but sounds good :)

DeleteCorrection.... It's All About Love starring Sean Penn, Joaquin Phoenix, and Claire Danes is Thomas Vinterberg's first English-language film as Far from the Madding Crowd is actually his third.

ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by Michael Haneke's Flashmob (2015), even though it has no release date yet. Dark Places based on Gillian Flynn's novel might be worth a look.

DeleteFlashmob is looking like a 2016 release. I almost mentioned it, along with other possible '16 releases like The Lost City of Z (James Gray), Love (Gaspar Noe), and The Ferryman (Wong Kar-Wai). Overlooked Dark Places, but I'm not sure I would've included it. Still, I do want to check it out.

DeleteI hope Haneke's is ready in time for Cannes, although I prefer him not to rush the production, so I'm also fine with 2016.
Gaspar Noe's previous film Enter The Void is very innovative and for me among the best of the decade. As usual, I think his latest "Love" won't be for everyone.
Haha, I'm used to listing films that get bumped to the following year, so I'm surprised I decided to leave Flashmob out.
DeleteEnter the Void was bold filmmaking, even if I'd only give it an A-. (I should rewatch it.) It does get a couple of CinSpec nods though. Really interested in how Love turns out.
Nice list! A few of these are on mine too. My list is already huge and it's only January. I like the special mention of Wait, I'm certainly looking forward to that one too.

DeleteGreat list! Even though it isn't technically on the list, I am looking forward to Far from the Madding Crowd. Hardy's novels seem to adapt to screen well (Tess, Jude). I am also looking forward to The Martian, but I want to read the novel first.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Far from the Madding Crowd was very close to cracking my top 10. It might have, if I hadn't rediscovered the Mission: Impossible films recently. (Forgot how awesome that franchise is.) I'm a fan of the 1967 film version with Julie Christie, so I can't wait to see Vinterberg's version. The Martian seems like Scott's comeback (finally), but I wonder...
DeleteGreat list! My most anticipated film of this year is by far Knight of Cups, Malick is amazing. The trailer for Far from the Madding Crowd looked great, and Spectre and Macbeth are also high up for me. I completely forgot Marty had a film coming out this year! I need to find out more about it now.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Knight of Cups was my #2 on last year's list, so I left it off my 2015 one. Silence might be bumped to 2016, but I'm always game for a new Scorsese film.

DeleteLooks like a good year, I need to trim down my own list, I have like 100 movies in it. These seem like the highlights, I'm really very excited to see most of them. Like Scorsese's (always), 007, DiCaprio with Iñárritu, Tarantino's, and Macbeth.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Trimming down the list was the hardest part. I had a lot of films as well. I suspect we won't get Scorsese's film until 2016, but I hope I'm wrong.
