Ryan McNeil at The Matinee is hosting this series again, so here's my list for next year. I'll watch one film every month, and write a brief post with my thoughts.

Of the films on that list, I've seen 8 as Pandora's Box was one of my choices earlier this year. The ones I haven't seen are Tabu, Cleo from 5 to 7, It's a Gift, and Broken Blossoms.

DeleteThat's certainly quite the variety. 1910's to 2010's is right. I thought I was doing great going as far back as 1925 with Strike but this i going above and beyond. The only one of these I've seen so far is Monsieur Hulot's Holiday which, unlike Jacques Tati's Playtime, was actually funny and had some good humor in it.
ReplyDeleteI've not see any of Tati's films yet, so I'm looking forward to Monsieur Hulot's Holiday. I almost added Mon Uncle and Playtime to my list, but I thought I might want to watch them soon after I watch Hulot.

ReplyDeleteThe only one I've seen is Infernal Affairs. It is very good, but a little weird to watch if you've already seen The Departed.
ReplyDeleteI figured it would be, but I'm interested in seeing the first film. I might even watch the whole trilogy.

DeleteThe Thin Blue Line is so great. Errol Morris is an absolute genius. Dead Man is one of the only Jarmusch movies I've really enjoyed. The Mirror is beautiful but was a very tough watch for me. Great list man! Good luck. I've decided to do a Blind Spot myself next year. Really excited about it!

DeleteGreat picks, Josh. I've seen eight of these, and I liked most of them. I won't say which I didn't so it doesn't impact your thoughts upfront. Cleo from 5 to 7 is so great, and Pandora's Box is something to see.
