September Oscar Predictions

Birdman looks like a strong contender.

Since last month's predictionsThe Imitation Game and Birdman have received great early reviews. Both appear to be solid contenders, with BoyhoodFoxcatcher, Unbroken, Interstellar, and Gone Girl in tow. I'm not sure what to make of other contenders like Fury, Into the Woods, Selma, WildThe Theory of Everything, Trash, and Inherent Vice. All of them could be nominated, though it's hard to tell which ones, if any, will land in Best Picture.

  1. Nice buddy! I like that our predictions don't match up anywhere right now (at least not major categories) because it shows how open everything is at the moment. This is going to be a fun Oscar season!!!

  2. Hey Josh! I was reading a lauded review of The Theory of Everything. Seems that Cumberbatch might have serious competition from Eddie Redmayne as Stephen Hawking. I do hope Michael Keaton got a nod for Birdman, he's such an underrated actor.

    1. Hi Ruth! Yeah, The Theory of Everything has picked up a lot of buzz since I posted these. I wasn't sure about its chances, but I'll be predicting it in several categories next month. Oh, I'm rooting for Keaton as well. He should already be a nominee for Beetlejuice at least.
