| Will Fury play like Basterds with the Academy? |
Little has changed since last month's predictions, though I am warming up to Fury and Mr. Turner as potential Best Picture nominees. I've also gone back to predicting The Imitation Game, while I've weakened on Into the Woods, Macbeth, Big Eyes and Magic in the Moonlight. Also, will The Fault in Our Stars really score a song nomination? Maybe. Will Channing Tatum go lead for Foxcatcher? Perhaps. I've left him in supporting (and Carell in lead) for now.

Why less faith in Macbeth? I think Affleck may sneak in, it does seem like kind of he gets in, movie gets in double deal, his part looks huge
ReplyDeleteMacbeth is an interesting case. Shakespeare adaptations don't always go over well with the Academy, and I'm not sure how much it will factor into the Oscar race with so many baity films. Plus, there doesn't seem to be much noise around it, and I'm wondering if the film will get lost in the shuffle.

Heh, not Pitt again, I'm bored just looking at his photo. I hope Michael Keaton gets a nod, boy I've been hoping he'd make a comeback as a leading man. He's quite the underrated actor. I LOVE "Everything is Awesome"! It's well, awesome, and a fun song to get stuck in your head, ahah.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Pitt probably won't gain any traction this season, but his film might. ;) Keaton seems like a sure thing at the moment. Oh, I really hope "Everything is Awesome" gets nominated! It's a brilliant song, for sure.

ReplyDeleteBirdman looks quite original from the trailer, and the fantasy elements such a departure from the director's realistic dramas.
I can't wait to see all of those! I'm most intrigued by Boyhood and Interstellar, though. I suspect one of those could be #1 film this year (if Under the Skin loses that spot). It's also great to have another Mike Leigh film coming out.
