Top 10 Most Anticipated Movies of 2014

Gosling's How to Catch a Monster marks his directorial debut.

My longlist was nearly 60 films, so hopefully that promises another great year for cinema.

Note: I left off 2013 films that were moved, like A Most Wanted Man (dir. Anton Corbijn), Calvary (dir. John Michael McDonagh), Can a Song Save Your Life? (dir. John Carney), The Monuments Men (dir. George Clooney), Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (dir. Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez), Winter's Tale (dir. Akiva Goldsman), The Immigrant (dir. James Gray), Serena (dir. Susanne Bier), and Foxcatcher (dir. Bennett Miller).

Honorable Mentions: How to Catch a Monster (dir. Ryan Gosling), Noah (dir. Darren Aronofsky), Black Sea (dir. Kevin Macdonald), Gone Girl (dir. David Fincher), The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby (dir. Ned Benson), Dom Hemingway (dir. Richard Shepard), Jane Got a Gun (dir. Gavin O'Connor), Mr. Turner (dir. Mike Leigh), Nymphomaniac (dir. Lars von Trier), and The Trip to Italy (dir. Michael Winterbottom).

10. The Imitation Game (dir. Morten Tyldum)

9. Sils Maria (dir. Olivier Assayas)

8. Tom at the Farm (dir. Xavier Dolan)

7. Miss Julie (dir. Liv Ullmann)

  2. Under the Skin is one of my most anticipated, the only consolation is that it seems to be getting released in the spring.
