August Oscar Predictions

Foxcatcher is back on the roster.

There have been a lot of changes since I posted my predictions last month. I've added Foxcatcher back to my lineup now that it's been confirmed for release this year. While I've softened on 12 Years a Slave a bit, I've embraced The Secret Life of Walter Mitty as a potential Oscar vehicle. I'm a little hesitant on The Wolf of Wall Street and Fruitvale Station at the moment, but I've left them in the mix for now. I've also become convinced of Oprah's inevitable Oscar win for Lee Daniels' The Butler. Apart from that, these are very similar to my last predictions.

  1. Cool predictions Josh, though I really can't even begin to do something like this but then again you're the Oscar expert :D Wow, is that Mark Rufallo in Foxcatcher?? I almost didn't recognize him.

I'd love to see Chiwetel Ejiofor and David Oleyowo be nominated in Best Actor and Supporting category respectively, those are two ultra talented Brits.

    1. Thanks Ruth. I'd hardly call myself an expert though. I'm more of an Oscar fanatic. :D Yeah, I wonder if Ruffalo could get a nomination.

I think Ejiofor has the better chance, but I could see him getting snubbed.

  2. Great batch of predix buddy. We see eye to eye on a lot of these, but you still have way more faith than I do in 12 Years a Slave, although I think your Supporting Actor lineup looks VERY possible.

    1. Thanks pal! I'm hanging on to 12 Years a Slave for now, but I might drop it by next month. Yeah, I think that Supporting Actor lineup could happen. I don't see Roth or Brolin happening, and probably not Leto.

  3. Man, if these actually came true, we’d have one hell of an Oscar season. I really hope Fruitvale sneaks in for some of the bigger ones.

And Ejiofor... God, I hope he’s nominated.

    Great work here.

    1. Thanks man. I'm a little worried that Ejiofor and Jordan might be snubbed, but I hope I'm wrong.
