Very nice Josh! I think I agree with some of your choices that I have seen. Of course I still need to see The Apartment and my Lawrence of Arabia Blu-ray is on order now. I agree GWTW has gorgeous costumes and yes, Moulin Rouge!'s art direction is gorgeous and imaginative indeed. Let's see if Baz could top that with The Great Gatsby.

ReplyDeleteDidn't know you loved Tilda Swinton so much.I usually am not keen on British actors playing Americans, the accents tend to distract me from what they are saying.Some actors get it right like Emma Watson in Perks, but I disliked Emma Thompson's work in Primary Colors, and Michael Caine's performance in The Cider House just irritated me. I haven't seen Michael Clayton, I take your word for it she must have done a great job!

DeleteI like Swinton, but I LOVE that performance. Didn't think she'd "win", but there aren't a lot of great supporting actress wins that I've seen.
I'm with you on accents. Oddly enough, Watson's accent bothered me (a little) in Perks, but so did Caine's. Can't remember Thompson's very well.
Wow, great work! Awesome to see Tilda Swinton as your winner, her win for Clayton is one of my favorite Academy Award moments :)

DeleteReally? Kline is actually my favorite supporting male performance of all time. I was surprised by Swinton too, but Supporting Actress has never been the Academy's strongest category in terms of wins.
