Another Oscar season has come and gone, with the frontrunner Argo taking Best Picture. Though the ceremony had its ups and downs (and ran over), I think it went quite smoothly overall. But I don't foresee Seth MacFarlane as next year's host. At least he made Tommy Lee Jones laugh.
The winners turned out to be very predictable (with the exception of a TIE in Best Sound Editing), so a few of my gambles didn't pay off. Check out the winners and how I did with my predictions below.

I finished 18/24 in my predictions, 20/24 with alternates. It's the best I've done since I predicted 19/24 at the 82nd ceremony (when The Hurt Locker won Best Picture). For the past two ceremonies, I predicted only 16/24, so I'm pleased with the results.
In the coming weeks, I'll be posting my first Oscar predictions for next year. Enjoy the off-season everybody!
You did pretty well! I got 17/21 right (didn't do prediction of the short films categories)
ReplyDeleteWas surprised Les Mis won for make-up, for me Hobbit deserved that. I think nearly everyone got Production Design wrong! I had David O. Russel and Riva wrong as well.

DeleteI think Les Mis's win was helped by the name change to "Makeup and Hairstyling". Still, The Hobbit would've been a worthy winner.
I was convinced Russell and Riva would win. Oh well.

DeleteI don't know how man of my predictions came true but I only cared about ARGO winning and Skyfall for Best Song so I'm glad both won! Oh and Brave also! For the performances, I'm glad Lawrence won though I had predicted Chastain would get it.
ReplyDeleteArgo and Skyfall were nice wins, as was Lawrence's (even though I'd rank her 5th in the Best Actress category). Chastain would've been a shock to me, but you never know what the Academy might do.
