Oscar Campaign Bust: 2012 Films

More For Your Consideration ads are being released for this year's films, but some are clearly out of Oscar contention. Ultimately, I don't see any of the following films getting nominated.

  1. K-Stew getting an ACTING nod?? WOW, I don't know how that is possible! I hope I get to see Hyde Park Hudson this month, the trailer looks really good!

    1. She's actually pretty good in On the Road, but no one other for Hedlund gets a real chance to shine.

    2. Ah I see. Well I still might rent that one as I really want to see Sam Riley!

    3. I've heard good things about most of the cast from On the Road. Can't wait to see it.

Haven't heard anything positive on Hyde Park on Hudson, but I might see it.

  2. I don't think I've ever seen FYC ads before. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel certainly had a magnificent cast, but for me it was just an O.K. film. I enjoyed Bernie, though it isn't one of my favorites, and I was happy to finally see Jack Black in a role that didn't make me want to grind my teeth in irritation. :-)

    1. Haha. I generally like Jack Black, but I know what you mean.

FYC ads can be quite interesting, especially if you look back and see what some films actually campaigned for. For instance, some Pirates of the Caribbean 2 ads campaigned it for Best Picture, Director, the works.

At the URL below, you can view ads from 2005-present. They've even got a few from the early 90s, if you're interested.

  4. Man, Hyde Park on Hudson isn't released here until 26th, it's not something I'd usually watch but Bill Murray!

  5. @Toby: Yeah, I've heard the film isn't very good, but I might see it for Bill Murray.
