"he's great but he's pretty, so noone takes him seriously as an actor" is spot on, I think Michelle Pfeiffer suffers the same 'fate.' I actually included him in my post of great London-born actors as he's actually better than people give him credit for, and he does try NOT to utilize his beauty, such as his role in 'Anna Karenina.'ruthhttp://flixchatter.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5030627662498151745.post-35158242245722213312012-08-13T22:26:38.955-04:002012-08-13T22:26:38.955-04:00I know, right? I'd nominate 5 times actually: for this and Gattaca (both wins), The Talented Mr. Ripley, Closer, and Breaking and Entering. Look on the bright side, he doesn't have any Oscars.

Plus, he might get replaced in this category eventually. My other nominees would be: Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down), Paul Bettany (A Knight's Tale), Steve Buscemi (Ghost World), and Ben Kingsley ((Sexy Beast). Law tops them, but I might see another performance that knocks him off.

I recommend AI, even if it does have Jude Law. Phoenix is wonderful in Quills (a Fisti nominee) and certainly better there than in his hammed up Oscar nominated turn in Gladiator (a far better film though).

Do cinematography next! I love that category.

Oh, and blahblahblah Toby, why the hate on Jude Law? He's a great actor, and his run from 1997-2004 was brilliant. I personally give him Fisti nominations for Gattaca, The Talented Mr. Riply, A.I., Cold Mountain and I Heart Huckabees. The film concentrates mostly on Denzel's character, who certainly has more screen time than Crowe's. Glad you chose Ledger too, recently around the time TDKR some people started whining he is overpraised for his work in TDK, which I thought was ridiculous, his performance in that movie was amazing.s.https://www.blogger.com/profile/13987831438787776712noreply@blogger.com
